Esser-Werke Conforms India Private Limited (EWCFI) is a subsidiary company of Esser-Werke GmbH, Germany under the group company of Construction Forms, Inc. (CFI), USA. EWCFI was incorporated in October 2023 with its registered office at Hyderabad, Telangana. The business develops, manufactures, sells, and exports wear protection solutions such as piping systems and other wear protection components and its accessories, for concrete conveying and other hydraulic or pneumatic conveying in various user industries.

JOB SUMMARY

The Plant Manager will lead all manufacturing operations at our new start-up facility in India. This role is critical in establishing a world-class manufacturing environment from the ground up. The ideal candidate will bring prior greenfield experience, ensuring smooth facility setup, workforce build-out, and operational ramp-up. Beyond managing daily plant activities, the Plant Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to scale operations, positioning themselves for future advancement within the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and safety for a new greenfield facility.
  • Oversee plant startup activities, including layout development, equipment installation, commissioning, and process validation.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, staffing plans, resource allocation, and cost-control measures to achieve operational targets.
  • Establish a lean manufacturing culture with strong GEMBA practices, accountability metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, environmental rules, and global operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian labor laws and statutory requirements, including the Factories Act, Shops and Establishments Act, and all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with local authorities and government bodies for permits, inspections, audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Oversee GST compliance and tax-related documentation for plant operations.
  • Manage contract labor in accordance with minimum wage laws, labor documentation, and contractor compliance standards.
  • Lead workforce recruiting, training, and development to build a high-performing team capable of supporting a start-up environment.
  • Partner closely with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely flow of materials and finished goods.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular operational reports to senior leadership.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence during both the launch and ongoing production phases.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering + MBA preferred.
    10+ years of experience preferably in pipe manufacturing operations, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Previous greenfield/start-up facility experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and manage complex operations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with Indian labor laws, compliance requirements, and safety standards.
  • Experience working with Western or multinational companies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AI-enabled productivity tools (SAP experience a plus).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Full-time 6 days working in a week, on-site leadership role at the India manufacturing facility.
  • Requires flexibility to work extended hours, particularly during setup, commissioning, and peak production periods.
  • Daily exposure to a shop-floor environment with strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel for vendor meetings, audits, corporate reviews, and global alignment sessions.
